Ingredients

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter

1/2 cup apple sauce (unsweetened)

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

1/3 cup dried apples, chopped

1/3 cup almonds, chopped (or your preferred nuts)

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Prep the Pan: Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.

Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, peanut butter, apple sauce, honey (or maple syrup), dried apples, chopped almonds, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and form a sticky mixture.

Add Chocolate Chips (if using): Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Spread in the Pan: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Using a spatula or your hands, firmly press the mixture down into an even layer. Make sure it’s compact to help the bars hold together.

Chill: Place the baking dish in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to allow the bars to firm up.

Slice and Store: Once chilled, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment overhang. Cut into desired sizes, either into squares or rectangles. Store the bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
