Ingredients

6 large cinnamon rolls (store-bought or homemade), cut into 1-inch pieces

4 cups whole milk

4 large eggs

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

1/2 cup raisins or dried cranberries (optional)

1 tablespoon butter, for greasing

Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Maple syrup, for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Oven and Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter.

Prepare the Cinnamon Rolls: Place the cut cinnamon roll pieces evenly in the greased baking dish. If using, sprinkle the chopped pecans and raisins or dried cranberries over the cinnamon roll pieces.

Make the Custard Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined and smooth.

Combine: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces in the baking dish. Gently press down the cinnamon rolls to ensure they soak up the custard mixture adequately. Let this sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the rolls to absorb the liquid.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set (a knife inserted in the center should come out clean).

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the bread pudding from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes. For serving, dust with powdered sugar if desired and drizzle with maple syrup.

Enjoy: Slice and serve warm, enjoying the delightful combination of sweet cinnamon flavor and soft, creamy texture.
