Ingredients

1 lb ground pork (or beef)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup chopped green onions

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp ginger, grated

1 large egg, beaten

1 tbsp soy sauce

2 tbsp gochujang (Korean red chili paste)

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp salt

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Additional chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork (or beef), breadcrumbs, chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, beaten egg, soy sauce, gochujang, sesame oil, brown sugar, black pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined but do not overwork the meat.

Shape Meatballs: Using your hands, shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced about an inch apart.

Bake Meatballs: Once shaped, place the meatballs in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and lightly browned.

Prepare Glaze: While the meatballs are baking, in a small saucepan over medium heat, mix together 2 tablespoons of gochujang, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. Stir until smooth and heated through.

Glaze Meatballs: Once baked, remove the meatballs from the oven and drizzle the glaze over them while they’re still hot. Toss gently to coat all the meatballs evenly.

Garnish and Serve: Transfer the glazed meatballs to a serving platter. Sprinkle sesame seeds and additional chopped green onions on top for garnish. Serve hot with steamed rice or lettuce wraps for a delightful meal.
