Spicy Crispy Baked Tofu Bites

14 oz extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)

1 tablespoon maple syrup

2 teaspoons sesame oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

¼ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup cornstarch or arrowroot powder

2 tablespoons olive oil (for drizzling)

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.

    Prepare the Tofu: Drain the tofu and press it for at least 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut it into bite-sized cubes, roughly 1-inch in size.

      Make the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sriracha, maple syrup, sesame oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), and black pepper until well combined.

        Marinate the Tofu: Add the cubed tofu to the marinade, ensuring that each piece is coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes. For deeper flavor, you can marinate it in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours.

          Coat the Tofu: After marinating, sprinkle the cornstarch over the coated tofu. Toss gently to ensure that each piece is well-coated with cornstarch for that extra crispiness.

            Arrange on the Baking Sheet: Spread the coated tofu bites evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil over the top, which will help them crisp up in the oven.

              Bake the Tofu: Bake the tofu bites in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, flipping them halfway through for an even golden-brown color. Keep an eye on them to avoid over-browning, as ovens may vary.
