Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)

1 pound ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 tablespoon mustard

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Pickles (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, add the finely chopped onion and cook until soft (about 3-4 minutes). Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned, about 5-6 minutes, and drain any excess fat.

Mix in the Flavors: Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the ketchup and mustard until fully combined. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Prepare the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth it out. Cut the pastry into squares, approximately 3 inches wide.

Fill the Pastry: Place a tablespoon of the beef mixture in the center of each pastry square. Top with a tablespoon of shredded cheddar cheese.

Fold and Seal: Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a little pocket. Press down to seal and use a fork to crimp the edges to ensure they are secure.

Egg Wash and Garnish: Arrange the filled pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added crunch.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.

Serve: Allow the pastries to cool slightly. Serve warm with pickles on the side if desired.
