Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 pound ground beef or turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped green onions

1/4 cup crushed pineapple (drained)

2 cloves garlic (minced)

1 egg

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon fresh ginger (grated)

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Teriyaki Sauce:

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup honey or brown sugar

1/4 cup rice vinegar

2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1 teaspoon grated ginger

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Additional chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef (or turkey), breadcrumbs, chopped green onions, crushed pineapple, minced garlic, egg, soy sauce, grated ginger, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.

Form Meatballs: Using your hands, form the mixture into small meatballs, roughly 1 inch in diameter. Place them evenly on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake Meatballs: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until they are cooked through and slightly browned.

Make the Teriyaki Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, prepare the teriyaki sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir until everything is well combined.

Thicken the Sauce: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Whisk in the cornstarch-water mixture and continue to cook for about 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Coat the Meatballs: Once the meatballs are baked, remove them from the oven and place them in a large bowl. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the meatballs and toss gently to coat them evenly.

Serve: Arrange the coated meatballs on a serving platter, and garnish with sesame seeds and additional chopped green onions. Serve immediately.
