Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

3 large potatoes, thinly sliced

1 can (15 oz) green beans, drained

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes (undrained)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp dried thyme (optional)

1 cup beef broth

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Brown the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef (or turkey) and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Sauté Vegetables: Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Layer Ingredients: In a large casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom. On top of the potatoes, spread the cooked meat mixture evenly. Follow with the drained green beans and undrained diced tomatoes.

Season and Layer: Drizzle the Worcestershire sauce over the layers. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme (if using) evenly over the dish. Cover everything with the remaining sliced potatoes.

Add Broth: Carefully pour the beef broth over the top layer of potatoes. This will add moisture and flavor as the casserole bakes.

Cover and Bake: Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.

Final Touch: After 1 hour, remove the foil and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Return to the oven (uncovered) and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the potatoes are tender.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
