Ingredients

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp sugar

1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

½ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

2 tbsp fresh basil, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

½ tsp black pepper

¼ cup melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar. In a separate bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough starts to form.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and gradually add the remaining ½ cup of flour as needed. Knead for approximately 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Form into a ball and place in a lightly greased bowl. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling: While the dough is rising, mix together the chopped parsley, basil, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, and black pepper in a small bowl. Set aside.

Shape the Rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 12x18 inches. Spread the melted butter for brushing over the surface of the dough, then evenly sprinkle the herb and garlic mixture across the dough.

Roll and Cut: Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the edges to seal and then cut the log into 12 equal pieces.

Second Rise: Place the cut rolls spirals up in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover with a kitchen towel and allow to rise for another 30 minutes until they puff up.

Preheat the Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake: Once the rolls have risen, brush the tops with extra melted butter. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Serve warm, and enjoy the delightful aroma of garlic and herbs!
