Ingredients

8 slices of sourdough bread

4 oz prosciutto, thinly sliced

4 oz salami, thinly sliced

4 oz aged cheddar cheese, sliced

4 oz brie cheese, sliced

1/4 cup fig jam

1/4 cup whole grain mustard

1/2 cup arugula

4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Prep Your Ingredients: Have all your ingredients ready. Slice the sourdough bread, cheeses, and prepare your meats. Make sure the butter is softened for easy spreading.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Lay out 4 slices of sourdough bread on a clean surface. Spread a thin layer of fig jam on each slice. Then layer on the prosciutto, salami, aged cheddar, brie, and arugula. Top with another slice of sourdough and spread a layer of whole grain mustard on the outer sides of the bread.

Butter the Bread: Carefully spread the softened butter on the outside of each sandwich. This will help achieve a golden brown, crispy crust when grilled.

Preheat the Grill: Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium heat.

Grill the Sandwiches: Place the sandwiches on the skillet, cooking until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Press down slightly with a spatula to ensure even grilling. Carefully flip each sandwich and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.

Serve: Once grilled, remove from the skillet and let them cool for a minute. Slice the sandwiches diagonally and serve warm, with extra fig jam or mustard on the side for dipping if desired.
