Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)

Marinara sauce (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, chopped parsley, chopped basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Use your hands or a spatula to mix everything until well combined but do not overmix.

Form Meatballs: Wet your hands slightly to prevent sticking, and form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place the meatballs on a parchment-lined baking sheet, making sure they are spaced evenly.

Cook the Meatballs: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches to avoid overcrowding. Sear each side for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown.

Bake in the Oven: After searing, transfer the meatballs back onto the baking sheet (if necessary) and bake them in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Serve: Once cooked, remove from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve hot, garnished with extra fresh herbs and a side of marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.
