1 cup whole wheat pita chips, crushed into coarse crumbs

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons nutritional yeast

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Oil spray or 2 tablespoons olive oil for frying

Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Optional: Your favorite dipping sauce (e.g., tahini, sriracha mayo)

Prepare the Tofu: Begin by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the drained tofu block in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for about 15-20 minutes. Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes (about 1 inch).

    Set Up Breading Station: In three separate shallow bowls, set up your breading station. In the first bowl, add the all-purpose flour mixed with a pinch of salt and pepper. In the second bowl, pour the plant-based milk. In the third bowl, combine the crushed pita chips, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.

      Bread the Tofu: Dip each tofu cube first into the flour, ensuring it's lightly coated. Next, immerse it into the plant-based milk, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, roll the tofu cube in the pita chip mixture, pressing gently to ensure the crumbs adhere well. Repeat with all the tofu cubes.
