Ingredients

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

2-3 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1 large egg, beaten

Salt and pepper to taste

Oil for frying

Instructions

Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, finely chopped jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and set aside.

Form the Bites: Using a tablespoon, scoop out the cheese mixture and roll it into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter). Place the cheese balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Prepare the Breading Station: Set up a breading station by placing panko breadcrumbs in a shallow dish and beaten egg in another shallow dish.

Bread the Cheese Bites: Take each cheese ball, dip it in the beaten egg, ensuring it is completely coated. Then roll it in the panko breadcrumbs until fully covered. Repeat this process until all cheese balls are breaded.

Fry the Cheese Bites: In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot (about 350°F), carefully add the breaded cheese bites in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

Drain and Serve: Once done, use a slotted spoon to remove the cheese bites from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or salsa.
