Ingredients

2 large onions, sliced into 1/4-inch rings

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 large egg

1 tablespoon water

1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Cooking spray or olive oil spray

Instructions

Prepare the Onions: Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Carefully separate the rings and set them aside.

Set Up the Breading Stations: In a shallow dish, mix the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. In another dish, whisk together the egg and water until well combined. In a third dish, combine the panko breadcrumbs and dried oregano.

Bread the Onion Rings: Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Shake off excess flour. Then, dip it into the egg mixture. Finally, roll the ring in the panko breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere crumbs.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.

Air Fry the Rings: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the breaded onion rings in a single layer in the basket, making sure they don’t overlap. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.

Cook to Perfection: Air fry the onion rings for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy. Check halfway through and shake the basket to ensure even cooking.

Serve: Once ready, remove the rings and let them cool for a minute. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or spicy mayo!
