2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional, for extra kick)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon dried thyme

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

4 whole grain hamburger buns

4 slices of cheese (cheddar, provolone, or your choice)

Lettuce leaves

Tomato slices

Your favorite sauce (mayo, aioli, or BBQ sauce)

Instructions
 

Prepare the Chicken Marinade:

    - In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk and hot sauce.

      - Slice chicken breasts in half horizontally to make them thinner and more tender.

        - Submerge the chicken in the buttermilk mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or up to overnight for maximum flavor).

          Prepare the Breading Station:

            - Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

              - In a shallow bowl, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, oregano, and thyme.

                - In another bowl, add the panko breadcrumbs.

                  Coat the Chicken:

                    - Take each piece of marinated chicken out of the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off.

                      - Dredge the chicken in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring it's well-coated.

                        - Then, press the chicken into the panko breadcrumbs, pressing firmly to ensure a crispy coating.

                          Bake the Chicken:
