Ingredients

12 ounces string cheese (or mozzarella sticks)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crispiness)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking spray

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

Prep the Cheese: Cut each string cheese stick in half (or leave whole if you prefer larger sticks).

Set Up Breading Station: In a three-bowl setup, place the flour in the first bowl. In the second bowl, beat the eggs. In the third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper together.

Bread the Cheese: Take a cheese stick, coat it in the flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing the excess to drip off. Finally, roll it in the seasoned breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to adhere. Repeat for the rest of the cheese sticks.

Chill the Sticks: Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze them for at least 30 minutes. This helps the cheese to firm up and prevents it from oozing out while cooking.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

Air Fry: Lightly spray the basket of your air fryer with cooking spray. Arrange the frozen mozzarella sticks in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches). Lightly spray the tops of the sticks with more cooking spray.

Cook: Air fry the mozzarella sticks for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden and crispy. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t overcook.

Serve: Once done, allow them to cool for a couple of minutes. Serve hot with warm marinara sauce for dipping.
