12 oz spaghetti

2 tbsp olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Additional grated Parmesan, for serving

Cook the Spaghetti: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti and set aside.

    Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant and just starting to brown.

      Create the Sauce: Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well. Add the dried oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes to meld the flavors.

        Add Cream: Reduce the heat to low, then slowly stir in the heavy cream until fully combined. Allow the sauce to simmer for an additional 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.

          Incorporate Cheese: Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until it melts and the sauce becomes creamy. If the sauce is too thick, gradually add in reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.

            Combine with Spaghetti: Add the drained spaghetti to the creamy tomato sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through.
