Cooking gnocchi properly is essential to achieving that perfect texture that we all love. Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. The salt not only seasons the gnocchi but also enhances their flavor during cooking. Once the water is boiling, carefully add the gnocchi to the pot. It's best to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding, which can lead to uneven cooking.

Ingredients

1 lb (450g) potato gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Gnocchi: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the gnocchi according to the package instructions. Once they float to the surface, which usually takes about 2-3 minutes, they are ready. Remove them with a slotted spoon and set aside.

Prepare the Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once it’s melted and bubbly, add in the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning.

Create the Creamy Base: Pour in the heavy cream, and stir to combine with the garlic and butter. Let it simmer gently for about 3-4 minutes to thicken slightly.

Add the Cheese: Gradually stir in the grated Parmesan cheese while continuously stirring until it melts into the sauce. The sauce should be creamy and smooth. Add Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Combine Gnocchi and Sauce: Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet, gently tossing them in the creamy garlic Parmesan sauce until well coated. Allow to cook for an additional minute just to heat everything through.

Serve and Garnish: Serve the creamy garlic Parmesan gnocchi immediately, garnished with freshly chopped parsley. For an extra touch, you can sprinkle more Parmesan on top!
