Ingredients

1 can (15 oz) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing

6 large eggs

1 cup milk (whole or your choice)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)

1/4 cup maple syrup (plus extra for serving)

Butter or cooking spray for greasing the pan

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional for crunch)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Prepare Cinnamon Rolls: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Open the cinnamon roll tube and separate the rolls. Cut each roll into quarters and set aside.

Make the Custard Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and maple syrup until well combined.

Combine and Soak: In a large skillet or griddle, melt a tablespoon of butter or spray with cooking spray over medium heat. Add the cut cinnamon roll pieces to the skillet. Pour the egg custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls, making sure they’re well coated. Let them soak for about 5-10 minutes.

Cook the French Toast: With a spatula, gently flip the pieces to ensure they are golden brown on all sides. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and slightly crispy.

Finish and Serve: If using pecans or walnuts, sprinkle them over the French toast before serving for a crunchy texture. Remove from heat and drizzle with the reserved icing from the cinnamon roll tube.

Garnish: Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve with extra maple syrup on the side.
