Ingredients

For the Brownie Layer:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Cookie Layer:

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Prepare the Brownie Layer:

      - In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the 1 cup of butter. Remove from heat and stir in granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.

        - In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

          - Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.

            Prepare the Cookie Layer:

              - In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Add in the egg and vanilla, mixing until well combined.

                - In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips.

                  - Take spoonfuls of the cookie dough and drop it evenly over the brownie batter. Use a spatula or your hands to gently spread the cookie dough to cover most of the brownie layer without mixing.

Bake the combined layers in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the cookie layer is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (moist crumbs are okay, but no wet batter).

Cool and serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Cut into squares and enjoy your decadent Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownies!
