Ingredients

1 loaf of round sourdough bread (about 1 pound)

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped (or 1 cup frozen spinach, thawed and drained)

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup sour cream

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Bread: Carefully cut the top off the sourdough bread loaf and hollow out the inside, leaving about 1 inch of bread around the edges to form a bowl. Save the removed bread for later use (like bread crumbs or a side).

Make the Spinach Dip: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and sour cream. Mix until smooth. Add in the chopped spinach, minced garlic, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until all ingredients are well blended.

Fill the Bread Bowl: Spoon the creamy spinach dip mixture into the hollowed-out bread bowl, packing it down gently as needed.

Prepare for Baking: Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet. Whisk the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the exposed bread crust to give it a golden finish.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and the bread is golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley on top for a pop of color. Serve warm with the reserved bread pieces or fresh vegetable sticks for dipping.
