When preparing Charcuterie Fried Rice, the choice of cookware can significantly impact the dish's final texture and flavor. A traditional wok is often recommended due to its unique shape, which allows for high heat and quick cooking. The curved sides help to toss ingredients with ease, promoting even cooking and preventing sticking. However, if a wok isn't available, a large, heavy-bottomed skillet can also yield excellent results.

Ingredients

2 cups cooked jasmine rice (preferably day-old for better texture)

4 oz assorted charcuterie meats (such as salami, prosciutto, and chorizo), diced

1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon

1/2 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)

3 green onions, chopped

2 eggs, beaten

3 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley or cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: If you haven’t done so, cook your rice a day prior and refrigerate it. Dice the charcuterie meats and chop the green onions.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.

Cook the Eggs: Pour in the beaten eggs and scramble until fully cooked. Remove them from the pan and set aside.

Sauté the Meats: In the same skillet, add the diced charcuterie and cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly crispy. Add the crumbled bacon and stir to combine.

Add the Rice: Increase the heat to high and add the cold jasmine rice, breaking up any clumps. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until heated through and slightly crispy.

Season the Rice: Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, green peas, and scrambled eggs to the pan. Mix everything thoroughly and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Final Touch: Stir in the chopped green onions just before removing from heat.

Serve: Plate the fried rice and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Optionally garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro for added flavor.

Enjoy your delightful Charcuterie Fried Rice, a fun twist on a classic dish that brings the flavors of a charcuterie board right to your dinner table!
