Ingredients

4 large buttery croissants

8 slices of ham (preferably smoked)

8 slices of Swiss cheese (or your choice of cheese)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon mayonnaise

1 tablespoon butter, melted

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the Dijon mustard and mayonnaise until well combined. This will add a zesty flavor to your croissants.

Slice the Croissants: Cut each croissant in half horizontally, without separating the halves completely. This creates a pocket for the fillings.

        Assemble the Croissants:

          - Spread about half a tablespoon of the mustard-mayonnaise mixture on the inside of each croissant half.

            - Layer 2 slices of ham and 2 slices of Swiss cheese on the bottom half of each croissant.

              - If you like extra cheese, you can add more on top before closing the croissant.

Close the Croissants: Gently press the top half of the croissant down to secure the filling.

Prepare the Topping: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, garlic powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Brush this mixture generously on top of each assembled croissant for added flavor and browning.

Bake the Croissants: Place the croissants on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley for a pop of color and extra flavor.

Enjoy: Serve your baked ham and cheese croissants warm, either as a delightful breakfast, snack, or party appetizer!
