Ingredients

For the Bread:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk

1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)

For the Cheesecake Swirl:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Apple Crisp Topping:

1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan and set it aside.

Make the Apple Filling: In a small bowl, mix the diced apples with a sprinkle of cinnamon and set aside to let the flavors meld.

Prepare the Cheesecake Swirl: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined. Set aside.

Mix the Bread Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well. Stir in the vanilla extract and buttermilk until combined.

Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Gently fold in the diced apples.

Layer the Batter: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spread half of the cheesecake filling over that layer. Add the remaining bread batter and swirl in the remaining cheesecake filling, using a knife to create a marbled effect.

Prepare the Crisp Topping: In a medium bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, melted butter, and salt. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the batter in the loaf pan.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top gets too brown before the center is cooked, cover it loosely with foil.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then remove from the pan and let cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
