Apple Cinnamon Snack Rolls

Ingredients
  

1 cup warm milk (110°F to 115°F)

2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

¼ cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

2 tsp ground cinnamon

3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced (preferably Granny Smith)

½ cup brown sugar, packed

1 tsp vanilla extract

¼ cup raisins (optional)

For the glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2-3 tbsp milk

½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough:

    In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly and foamy.

      Mix Wet Ingredients:

        Add melted butter, egg, salt, and the remaining sugar to the yeast mixture, stirring to combine.

          Add Flour:

            Gradually add 3 ½ cups of flour while mixing with a wooden spoon or a dough hook attachment until a sticky dough begins to form. If needed, add more flour, a little at a time, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

              Knead the Dough:

                Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

                  First Rise:

                    Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

                      Prepare the Filling:

                        In a mixing bowl, combine diced apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and raisins (if using). Stir until well combined.

                          Roll the Dough:

                            Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle about ¼ inch thick.

                              Add Filling:

                                Spread the apple mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough. Starting from one long side, tightly roll up the dough into a log.

                                  Slice Rolls:

                                    Cut the log into 12 equal pieces (about 1 inch each). Place the sliced rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet, allowing a little space between each.

                                      Second Rise:

                                        Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for about 30 minutes or until they puff up.

                                          Preheat Oven:

                                            While the rolls are rising, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

                                              Bake:

                                                Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until they are golden brown and fully cooked through.

                                                  Prepare Glaze:

                                                    In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until you reach your desired consistency.

                                                      Glaze the Rolls:

                                                        Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes before drizzling with the glaze.
