Ingredients

For the Apple Layer:

4 medium tart apples (like Granny Smith), peeled, cored, and diced

2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Crumble Topping:

1 cup rolled oats

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup brown sugar (or coconut sugar for a healthier option)

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

½ tsp salt

½ tsp ground cinnamon

¼ cup chopped nuts (walnuts or almonds) – optional

For Serving:

Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional)

Additional cinnamon for sprinkling

Instructions

Prepare the Apple Layer: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Toss to coat the apples evenly and let them sit for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Make the Crumble Topping: In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, ground cinnamon, and chopped nuts (if using). Stir in the melted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Assemble in Glasses: Take six small glass jars or dessert glasses. Start by layering the apple mixture at the bottom of each glass, filling them about halfway.

Add the Crumble Topping: Generously sprinkle the crumble topping over the apple layer, covering it completely.

Bake: Place the glasses on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for about 25–30 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling and the crumble is golden brown.

Cool & Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, and sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon if desired.
